The practice of bibliotherapy from the perspective of librarians

Today we held the thesis defense of “The practice of bibliotherapy from the perspective of librarians: a mixed exploratory study”, developed by graduate student Larissa Santos da Costa (Graduate Program in Information Science, Federal University of São Carlos).

The study investigates how librarians engage with bibliotherapy in terms of knowledge, training, and professional practice, combining literature analysis with empirical data from Brazilian professionals. The findings highlight both existing gaps and emerging opportunities for the development of bibliotherapy within information units.

The examination committee was composed of:
  • Prof. Dr. Maria Cristiane Barbosa Galvão (Chair) – Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo
  • Prof. Dr. Paula Regina Dal’Evedove (Internal examiner) – Federal University of São Carlos
  • Prof. Dr. Cibele Araujo Camargo Marques dos Santos (External examiner) – School of Communications and Arts, University of São Paulo
  • Prof. Dr. Januário Albino Nhacuongue (Internal substitute) – Federal University of São Carlos
